Some people feel like good deeds are like “get out of hell free” cards. An individual is not condemned by God because of things he or she does. Condemnation has to do with a person’s heart and their sinful state. In other words, having a nature turned away from God.
We all have a rebellious nature. According to Psalm 51:5, we were born with it. Not one person is good enough nor wise enough to remain sinless and pleasing before the Lord. ( Rom. 3:23)
God loved us so much that he sent the solution to our situation. That solution was His perfect son, Jesus Christ. When we place our faith in Him as our Savior, our spirit is brought to life and our heart undergoes a transformation. The moment God saves you, He makes you into a new creature–one with a nature surrendered to Him and His will.
