Every day we are bombarded with words. We hear the words of our loved ones. We hear the words of our bosses. When we go to our various churches, or listen to our services via social media, do we really listen to God’s word?
Are we hungry for God’s word? Do we listen eagerly with a spirit of expectancy? If we are hungry and have that spirit of expectation, it is easier for our mind to focus on what He is saying. If we are truly hungry, we can be fed by the preached word from a pastor or teacher, our own personal bible reading or devotional times, or simple encouraging conversations with fellow believers.
Many things may try to take our focus. However, nothing is as important as what the Lord is saying to us. He is worthy of our undivided attention. He said that if we hunger and thirst after Him, we shall be filled. (Matt. 5:6) Whomever listens to God’s word with an open heart and alert mind will receive from Him.
