Who Is In Your Ear?

Have you ever done something then later questioned yourself as to why you did it? Have you ever said something and questioned yourself as to why you said it?  Where did all this come from? Have you ever thought about who or what you are listening to?

Unlike any other sense, our ears are open at all times. Even when we are asleep our ears can still take in sound. Some times we may fall asleep with the television on the news or a light hearted comedy, only to be awakened by the scream of a bloody horror film that has come on in the wee hours of the night. It only takes a moment for what we hear to influence how we feel and what we say.

At other times, we may talk to friends who have good intentions. However, their good intentions do not always lead to wise counsel. We may seek council from those who are inspirational but have never declared that Jesus is their Savior. We have to make sure that we are receiving “good sound doctrine” and not “sound good doctrine”. There is a difference. The scripture teaches us not to seek council from the ungodly. (Psalm 1:1)

Understand that each believer has the Holy Spirit living inside their hearts. He wants to help us with all of our decisions. Make it a habit of pinning your ear to His lips to ensure you always receive wise council. (Matthew 6:33)
