When we go to church and hear the word of God, we are then responsible for how we respond to what we have heard. It is easy for us to attend services week after week, but what do you do when the Lord convicts our heart us about the truth that we have heard. Many times we are tempted to rationalize our disobedience. Sometimes we may think that certain commands don’t really apply to us. We make the excuse of “God knows my heart”, so we simply don’t comply.
All excuses displease God. When we refuse to obey the word of God, it is an indication that we may have developed a hard heart. When that happens, it can make us less receptive to the conviction of the holy spirit. In the short term, it may feel like life is more enjoyable, since we don’t feel the guilt. In the end, the results are painful.
