What should I wear? What should I eat? Where should I go? How long should I stay? Who should go with me? Every day we are bombarded with questions as to how we should spend our day and how to live our lives. How do we decide what is truly important and what is merely another distraction? How do we decide where to invest our time, talent and resources?
Our priority should be to seek God’s kingdom and all his righteousness. When we do this, we make Him our top priority. This also makes us ready to receive the blessings of God. (Hebrews 11:6) When you really think about your priorities, you may realize that you’ve been distracted by things that truly don’t matter. The word does tell us to care for our families and to work diligently. However, putting anything before God is idolatry. Ask yourself, what is my priority in life? If the answer is not Jesus, then it’s time for a change.
