Watch Your Words

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. That statement is one that many of us made as children. If you are still saying that phrase, or believe that phrase, GROW UP!

The bible says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it will eat its fruit” (Prov.18:21) Are you prepared to eat your words? Many times our emotions cause us to make statements that can be very hurtful. At other times, we participate in meaningless gossip. One thing we fail to realize, is that once those words have left our mouths, they can not be put back in. Those words will hit the ears of friends and family and make an impact.  Which one will it be….Negative or Positive?

Prov. 13:3 “Those who control their tongue will have a long life, opening your mouth can ruin everything.” IThess 4:11 “Study to be quiet and work with your own hands, as we have commanded you.”

Sometimes our strongest statements can be made in our silence.  Keeping quiet can preserve life. If you haven’t prayed about what to say, say nothing.  If you are being led by emotions, say nothing. Every statement doesn’t need a response.  It takes more strength to keep quiet than to speak. Remember your words have power. Power to kill or power to heal. Please choose them wisely!

Blessings!
